Things that could change this

  • Is a child under 18 travelling with only one parent, or without their parents?
If yes: Bring proof of consent for the child
If a child travels with one parent, or with an adult who isn't their parent, an immigration officer may ask for proof. It isn't compulsory, but it helps to bring a signed consent letter from the other parent with their contact details, a copy of their passport or driving licence, and the child's birth or adoption certificate.

Arriving over the land border. If you come into Ireland from Northern Ireland by road or rail, report to an immigration office or Garda immigration office within 30 days of arriving.

Have your plans to hand. The immigration officer may ask about your trip. Keep your return ticket, proof you can pay for your stay and your accommodation details with you.
