Things that could change this

  • Are you taking any medicines with you, including cold, flu, allergy or pain remedies?
If yes: Check your medicines are allowed
Some common medicines are controlled in Turkey. Check yours before you go, and carry them in their original packaging with your prescription or a letter from your doctor.
  • Is your child also a Turkish citizen, and travelling without their Turkish parent?
If yes: Bring the Turkish parent's permission
If you leave Turkey with a child who is also a Turkish citizen, officials may ask to see that the Turkish parent agrees to the trip. Carry written permission from them.

Good to know

No e-Visa needed. You don't need an e-Visa to visit on a US, UK, Irish, Canadian, Australian or New Zealand passport. Ignore websites that offer to sell you one. The official e-Visa site is evisa.gov.tr.

Two passports don't double your days. If you hold two passports, you can't stay 90 days on each. The 90 days in any 180 covers you, not the passport.

Get stamped in and out. Make sure your passport is stamped when you arrive and when you leave, including on boat trips to nearby islands. Without an entry stamp you can't fly within Turkey, and a missing stamp can mean a fine.

Antiques can't leave the country. Taking antiquities out of Turkey is a crime that can mean prison. If you buy old items, use authorised dealers and keep the receipt and museum certificate for each one.
