Good to know
Passports with an X gender marker. You can't enter or transit the UAE on a passport with 'X' in the sex field. Passports with 'XX' in the date of birth are refused too.
Debts can stop you leaving. You may be stopped from leaving the UAE if you have unpaid debts, a court case or travel ban, or a child custody dispute.
How long you can stay. We've given the shorter stay of 30 days. One UAE embassy page has said New Zealand passports get 90 days in any 180, but other UAE sources say 30. If you plan to stay longer than 30 days, check with the UAE embassy first.
