Things that could change this

  • Are you also a Moroccan citizen, even if you don't have a Moroccan passport? Morocco counts anyone born to a Moroccan father as Moroccan.
If yes: Morocco will treat you as Moroccan
In Morocco, your Moroccan citizenship comes first and Moroccan law applies to you. Airport officers often ask dual citizens for their Moroccan national ID card, so bring it if you have one. Different entry and exit rules may apply, and your other country may not be able to help you much.
  • Are you taking any medicines with you, including cold, flu, allergy or pain remedies?
If yes: Bring the prescription for your medicines
Carry the prescription or a doctor's letter for your medicines, and keep them in their original packaging. Moroccan customs lets you bring medicines for your own use free of duty if you show these papers and sign a form saying they're only for you and you'll take any left over home. If you're not sure a medicine is legal in Morocco, check with a Moroccan embassy before you go.
  • Is the child's father Moroccan, and is he not travelling with you?
If yes: The child may need their father's permission to leave
Morocco treats children of Moroccan fathers as Moroccan citizens. They may not be able to leave Morocco without their father's permission, even if the parents are divorced and the mother has custody. Under Moroccan law, a parent can stop a child leaving the country.
  • Is your passport damaged? For example water damage, torn or missing pages, or a loose cover.
If yes: Replace a damaged passport before you go
Moroccan border officers have refused entry to some people with damaged passports.

Good to know

Get your passport stamped. Make sure the border officer stamps your passport when you arrive. People without an entry stamp have had trouble leaving Morocco.

Leave your drone at home. You can't bring a drone into Morocco without an import licence from the Moroccan government. Without one, customs keeps it for up to 45 days and then treats it as abandoned. Flying a drone also needs permission from Morocco's civil aviation authority.

Don't overstay. If you stay longer than 90 days without an extension, you'll have to see a judge or prosecutor, and may be fined, before you're allowed to leave.

Declare large amounts of cash. Declare foreign cash worth 100,000 dirhams or more when you arrive or leave. The dirham is a closed currency, so it's hard to change outside Morocco.
