Things that could change this

  • Are you taking any medicines with you, including cold, flu, allergy or pain remedies?
If yes: Check your medicines before you pack
Some medicines that are legal at home are controlled in Indonesia, such as those containing codeine or morphine and some ADHD medicines. Without permission from Indonesia's Ministry of Health they can be taken off you, and you can be fined or jailed. Indonesia doesn't publish a full list, so ask the Indonesian embassy if you're not sure. Bring only enough for your trip, in the original packs, with your prescription and a doctor's letter, and declare them on the All Indonesia form.
  • Are you taking any medicines with you, including cold, flu, allergy or pain remedies?
If yes: Don't bring cannabis or CBD
Cannabis and CBD products are illegal in Indonesia, including medical cannabis and CBD oils, even with a prescription. Drug laws are very strict: you can face a long prison sentence or the death penalty. Bags are scanned at the airport, including for people changing planes.
  • Is your passport damaged? For example water damage, torn or missing pages, or a loose cover.
If yes: Replace a damaged passport before you go
Indonesia has refused entry to people with damaged passports, even for minor damage such as water marks or small tears.

Good to know

Bali tourist levy. If you visit Bali, you pay a tourist levy of IDR 150,000 once per trip, on top of your visa. It applies even if you fly in from elsewhere in Indonesia. Pay by card on the official Love Bali site before you go, or at counters at Bali's airport and ports. Cash isn't accepted.

Use only the official sites. Use evisa.imigrasi.go.id for your visa, allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id for the free arrival card and lovebali.baliprov.go.id for the Bali levy. Fake sites and visa agents charge extra, and some travellers have lost money or overstayed after using them.

Overstaying costs IDR 1,000,000 a day. If you stay past the date you're allowed, you pay IDR 1,000,000 for each extra day, and you can be detained, deported or banned from coming back. Extend before your 30 days run out.

No work or paid content. The visa on arrival is for holidays, visiting people and business meetings. You can't work, sell goods or services, or be paid by anyone in Indonesia. GOV.UK says it doesn't cover volunteering, influencer work or paid online content.
