Do I need ETIAS for Hungary?
Not yet. When it starts, you'll need to apply online for ETIAS before you travel. It will cost €20 (free if you're under 18 or over 70) and last 3 years or until your passport expires. There's no start date yet: the EU says it will announce it several months ahead. Until then, don't pay any website for it.
How long does my passport need to be valid for Hungary?
Your passport must have been issued less than 10 years before you arrive, and be valid for at least 3 months after the day you leave the Schengen area.
Good to know in Hungary
Forint, not euro. Hungary's currency is the forint (HUF). Many shops and other places accept euros as well.
Motorway e-vignette. You need an e-vignette (e-matrica) to drive on Hungarian motorways. Buy it on the official toll website or at a petrol station, and check your number plate and country before you pay. If you forget, you have 60 minutes to stop and buy one.
