Do I need ETIAS for Slovakia?
Not yet. When it starts, you'll need to apply online for ETIAS before you travel. It will cost €20 (free if you're under 18 or over 70) and last 3 years or until your passport expires. There's no start date yet: the EU says it will announce it several months ahead. Until then, don't pay any website for it.
How long does my passport need to be valid for Slovakia?
Your passport must have been issued less than 10 years before you arrive, and be valid for at least 3 months after the day you leave the Schengen area.
Good to know in Slovakia
Bratislava's accommodation tax. Bratislava charges €3.50 per person per night in the Old Town (Staré Mesto) and €3 in the rest of the city. Your accommodation collects it.
Report where you're staying. If you're not an EU citizen, you must tell the police where you're staying and for how long within 3 working days of arriving, unless your accommodation provider has to do it for you. If you're staying with friends or in a private home, check with your host.
Motorway e-vignette. You need an e-vignette (e-známka) to use Slovak motorways. For a car it costs €8.10 for 1 day, €10.80 for 10 days, €17.10 for 30 days or €90 for 365 days. eznamka.sk is the only official sales channel.
